Possible causes of upper back pain

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the canal area where the spinal cord or nerves travel from the head to the lower back. This narrowing puts pressure on the spinal canal contents. Spinal stenosis can be found in any part of the spine; the lower back and the neck areas are the most commonly affected. If located on the lower back it is called lumbar spinal stenosis; if it is in the neck area, it is called cervical spinal stenosis.
