Sténose cervicale

Dans le cou, nous avons 7 os connus sous le nom de vertèbres cervicales, avec un bourrelet (appelé disque) entre chaque vertèbre. L’un des problèmes pouvant survenir au niveau du rachis cervical est la sténose cervicale ou myélopathie cervicale dégénérative (MCD). Le terme «myélopathie» signifie que la moelle épinière est comprimée. Cela peut survenir lorsque le canal rachidien est restreint en raison d’une dégénérescence des disques et des os (sténose), causant le rétrécissement de la moelle.

Hernie discale

Le rachis est composé d’os (vertèbres), chacun séparé par un amortisseur solide appelé disque intervertébral. Il y a 7 vertèbres cervicales (cou), 12 vertèbres thoraciques (thorax), 5 vertèbres lombaires (région lombaire), 5 vertèbres sacrées et un coccyx. Les hernies discales peuvent apparaître aux niveaux cervical, thoracique et lombaire. Les rachis lombaire et cervical sont les parties les plus souvent affectées.
