Tumeurs rachidiennes - Traitement

Le traitement des tumeurs rachidiennes dépend du type de la tumeur et de son étendue, et bien entendu des symptômes du patient. Tandis que les tumeurs bénignes indolores peuvent être ignorées ou suivies seulement et avoir un très bon pronostic, les tumeurs secondaires malignes doivent généralement être opérées.

La chirurgie est réalisée par l’avant ou l’arrière du rachis, ou les deux. Le principal objectif de l’intervention chirurgicale est de retirer la tumeur, de fournir davantage d’espace pour la moelle épinière et de stabiliser le rachis pour éviter tout tassement. Cela peut être réalisé en utilisant des vis en métal et un système de tiges. Par la suite, un suivi régulier est essentiel.
