Estenose cervical - Tratamento

O tratamento da condição depende da gravidade da doença. No início, com um estreitamento ligeiro e sintomas toleráveis, o médico pode começar por prescrever analgésicos, fisioterapia (por exemplo, aplicação de calor) e injeções.

Se a condição se encontrar numa fase avançada, o melhor tratamento é a cirurgia.

A cirurgia é realizada a partir da parte anterior ou posterior do pescoço, ou de ambas. A decisão sobre o tratamento dependerá do número de vértebras afetadas e onde se encontra o local principal de estreitamento - quer seja nos discos na parte anterior da espinal medula, quer seja nas articulações da parte posterior. Este aspeto não faz grande diferença, o objetivo principal da cirurgia é proporcionar mais espaço para a espinal medula e estabilizar a coluna cervical. Após a cirurgia, é possível que seja necessário utilizar um colar cervical durante 1 a 3 meses. Passado esse tempo, a espinal medula provocará menos dor, mas também se deverá limitar o movimento da coluna cervical.
